Digging Away From "Beep, Beep, Beep"

There’s been a lot of interest in the Apple ‘Switch’ ad campaign, telling the stories of real-life people who made the switch to a Mac, with a large amount of interest in the story of Ellen Feiss, the allegedly doped-up student who “beep, beep, beep”‘s her way through her tale of schoolpaper-munching PCs. Yah, that’s all well and good, but one of b0ingb0ing’s co-founders Mark Frauenfelder is in there too, as is someone called Liza Richardson. Thinking “hmm, she’s cute and a DJ”, I decided to peruse a bit more. OK, the cute thing was perhaps an overriding concern, but hey, I’m male and still have a pulse, so deal with it! :)

First thing was the obligatory google for more info. Turns out she’s a DJ for KCRW in Santa Monica, doing a show every Saturday night called The Drop. It’s on at 3am UK time, so it could be a bit of a stretch for me to make an effort to listen … but what’s this? Archived shows? Hmmm … I’m currently listening to her show from December 29th last year, and while the schedule says “hi-tech funk, uptempo house and international music blend”, it’s more eclectic than that, mixing various sounds and bites from the 80s and 90s … some InXS popped up at one point. She’s also been responsible for bringing Viggo Mortenson‘s “poetry, music and mayhem” to air on one of her previous shows on KCRW, The Man In The Moon. Yes, “Strider”/Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, lol!

She also DJs on Friday nights at Sensa at Sugar [la2nite] in Santa Monica, does voiceovers for ads, and is (and has been) a music consultant for quite a few movies.

Her previous ties to Apple in her music consultant role have been noticed in places, as have other participants Apple links, all of which have been downplayed by Apple themselves of course :)

Anyway, I just thought I’d point her out. Even though her contribution to the Switch campaign seems a bit … crass … you couldn’t find your files on a PC? Girl, you might be cute, but that doesn’t excuse not being able to understand “My Documents” :)
