went off to Brecon today to peruse some shops, mainly Tesco for provisions, and then visited the South Wales Borderers Museum. The SWB are now the Royal Regiment of Wales, but at the turn of the 20th century the SWB fought in South Africa against the Zulus, which was the inspiration for the movie Zulu, most notable for the star turn by Michael Caine as the real-life Lt. Bromhead.

The museum is packed to the gunnels with nostalgia and artifacts throughout the time of the Borderers, and I’d recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in the Zulu Wars or the Borderers themselves.
