“You’re Nicked!” “Erm, I Don’t Think So”

Tip o’ the hat to me mate Mark from Cisco for this one: turns out there’s a loophole in the (presumably English [and — yes Nic — Welsh]) law which means that a driver caught on a speed camera, who is then sent a penalty notice by post, can elect to return the form saying they wish to contest the charge in court. However, while it is required by law to state the name of the driver, and confirm the car is theirs, etc, there is no legal obligation for you to sign the form. If the form is left unsigned, the courts can turn a blind eye to it. What a mindbogglingly stupid loophole! This has come to light after a driver got let off from the courts after not signing his return form.

As a mate said, “Utter class!” :)
