Most Inappropriate … Time Limited Offer … Ever </comicbookguy>

I got spammed with this overnight — now I’m used to receiving random spams that pass through my spam filters (“SpamAssassin,” he cried from the highest rooftop in the land), but what I got was a spam trying to sell me commemorative dollar coins. No big deal, they get papped out all the time. This time, they’re commemorating the Columbia shuttle and her ill-fated crew. In case you can’t see the png graphic, the buzzwords are “In tribute to the valiant service”, “Available for a limited time”, “YOU ALSO GET”, “PLUS FREE BONUS (WHILE STOCKS LAST)” and the timeless and honourable classic “Limit 5 per household”.

Who buys this crap? I mean maybe a few years down the line I might have considered it acceptable, and even then only if a sizable portion of my money went to the Space Shuttle Children’s Trust Fund (or similar), which — surprisingly enough — this offer doesn’t seem to do.

Want this sick bag after I’m done with it?

Incidentally, this is my first blog about Columbia, and I haven’t had the chance to link to the supremely well done Columbia Loss FAQ. I would say it’s required reading for anyone who intends to sound informed on the subject.
