A few late decisions at the tail end of last week saw me spending Saturday and Sunday all over the shop, but in a good way :)
Saturday 12th
As usual for us, the decision to go on a “picnic” (I use the term loosely) was made on Thursday, with the actual location decided somewhere on a back road in the Campsies on Saturday afternoon :) Everyone stoated round to mine on Saturday morning, which pissed me off no-end as Andy, Ade and I had been up til all hours on Friday watchin’ movies and playing Super Monkey Ball 2, and I had random types phoning me at 10am :P After a ridiculous amount of money was spent in Asda — must have easily been £100 for burny munchies for 11 people — we headed off into the Campsie hills.
My elite driving skills came into play after qif decided to chuck melting ice cream out of iyan‘s car window at my Punto. White ice cream on red paint does not normally mix, and I successfully dodged all attempts to feck up my car!
After scouting some potential sites (translation: we drove about a bit until we stopped at somewhere random), we found a nice chunk of hill beside Carron Valley Reservoir. The disposable barbies were set up, munchies started gettin’ cooked, and the sun was shining away. It was about 6pm before we bothered to consider leaving. A pretty stompin’ lie about on a dod of ground!
Because I forgot the memory stick for my digicam, I have no photos to show, but iyan took some pretty good pics — and there’s an mpeg of me doing a velociraptor impression while taking swigs from a bottle of Grolsch knocking about on Gavin’s digicam … </fear>
Sunday 13th
Sunday was more straight forward — Ade and I stoated to Hampden Park for an NFL Europe game — the Scottish Claymores vs Frankfurt Galaxy.
It was a pretty damn good game (once I’d managed to figure out how to find Hampden from Penilee after dropping Andy off!), but unfortunately it was not to be for the boys in blue — Frankfurt beat the Claymores 17-13.
So all in, a stompin’ weekend :)
