hmmm the 30 gig drive that died … it didn’t have mp3s on it – the other one (that’s still alive) had all the mp3s on it! Hurrah! So I’ve been listening to more music again, and I’ve managed to get some more rips done too (namely SW Ep I Ultimate Edition OST and Slipknot – Iowa). Phew!

However, I’ve lost 23 gig-ish of apps, downloads and miscellaneous crap that resided on the dead drive. I’ve put feelers out for a quote to get it repaired (it seems to be just the power and electronics that are shot, not the mechanism) … so it’s time for a) a new hard drive (a good deal on a 60 gig IBM 60GXP deskstar has been had, and it’s en route), b) ext3 on the drives, and c) a UPS :)
