.ie: This Dell Didn't Have Far to Travel
neuro comment 2 Comments

Excellent breakfast in the B&B (not quite up to Ulster Fry standards, but pretty stomping nonetheless), then headed out to being sorting stuff out for the day. Joe and Sabrina were sorting out the food, Katherine and Clare were taking the kids to The Cage — some random indoor playpark for kids with bouncy stuff, ball stuff, and generally stuff that I wished we’d had to go to when I was a kid instead of metal framed swings with concrete underneath! — while we were sorting out a new Dell Dimension for Katherine to replace her aging Compaq AMD box.

The Dell is a total beast! Dual P4 with all the trimmings – tres nice. Her old machine proved a total bitch to work with, due to a shonky case, and Windows 98. We got it sorted in the end, and Katherine’s totally stoked with the machine :)

It’s also been the first chance I’ve had to check my mail since I left — ~ 1400 new messages in Mutt without complete spam filtering (Spamassassin tags the mail on my server, my MUA — Thunderbird — sifts out the spam tagged mail leaving me with proper mail, so reading the mail on the server before my client’s downloaded anything leaves a mess to look at remotely!)

We’re now tremendously late for dinner, and we’re going to get attacked by stuffing, I can see it now!
