Full of Sound and Fury

Macbeth, Act V, Scene III: “It is a tale / Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, / Signifying nothing.”

DaimlerChrysler Corporation’s Reply Brief in Support of its Motion for Summary Disposition: “At bottom, SCO’s arguments, though full of sound and fury, serve only to demonstrate that summary disposition should be granted.”

The SCO Group have had their lawsuit against DaimlerChrysler virtually trounced in court yesterday (cf el reg), after the presiding judge summarily dismissed the case on all points bar one. Having this level of access to the various suits SCO have mounted is further proof of the resourcefulness of the open source community, and that no matter what your skillset you can always bring something to the table.

However, having this level of access also continues to provide evidence that The SCO Group as a corporate entity no longer deserves to live. Any sane-minded person would throw them and their shyster lawyers out of a courtroom, but they are afforded the same legal rights as anyone else, and due process must be seen through. The only problem with that is that they keep delaying and goalpost shifting. Their constant requests for discovery are simply fishing exercises to desperately find any shred of compromise on IBM’s part.

Thank $deity for Pamela Jones and Groklaw!
